Competitive Dance

The competitive program at LRDA is designed for students who are looking to take their dance training and performance opportunities to the next level. Together students work on advancing their technique, training and skills. Our goal is to see this achieved in a supportive, interactive and positive environment.

Being a part of the competitive team requires a high level of commitment from each participant. Competitive students will learn the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, self discipline and most important they will create life-long friendships!

We have three levels of competitive teams that range in age from 7-18. Dancers must audition to be part of one of our teams and should have a minimum of 2 years of dance experience. During the audition process students are considered for their age, level of ability and experience.

For dancers just starting in our competitive program, they must participate on the team for one to two full years before any considerations for extras (solo, duet, trio, or small groups). The decision-making involves several factors, including readiness, commitment, and how they perform on stage, as we have never seen new students in this type of atmosphere which is very different than year end recitals. We look for growth made over the year/s as some disciplines are new, and we want to see technical improvements in all areas. We want to see how members interact with their fellow team mates. Most extras will run Friday-Sunday.
